C&A will close the two small city stores in Amsterdam, which opened less than a year ago. The branches in the Kinkerstraat and the Ferdinand Bolstraat, which opened their doors in March 2024 as part of a new shop concept, conclude on February 8th and 15th. This was confirmed by the fashion chain’s press office compared to fashionunited.

Shop concept turned out to be unprofitable

The two locations served as a test for a new shop concept: smaller shops with 300 square meters, which are aimed specifically at consumers and where the focus is on tailor -made service. At that time, C&A described the pilot project as a way to get closer to customers. After an evaluation, however, the company came to the conclusion that the concept was not profitable.

“We continuously evaluate our branch portfolio and the market to ensure that we offer our customers: inside what you want and where you want it,” said the C&A press office. “After an in -depth evaluation, we unfortunately came to the conclusion that these two shops have no sustainable future in this format.”

Focus on existing shops and online growth

After the closures, five C&A branches in Amsterdam remain. According to the company, the decision reflects a more comprehensive strategy of maximizing the value of the existing branch network and concentrating on sustainable growth.

The employees of the two branches have now been informed. C&A, according to its own statements, works closely with the social partners: inside to support the employees or to move to other locations.

“We are grateful to the team for his commitment and his hard work,” said the press office. “We thank our customers: Inside also for their trust and loyalty and look forward to continuing to operate them in our other Amsterdam shops and through our online shop.”
