BZ met Luna and talked to her about Berlin, her music and her coming out

Luna loves women and stands by them. With “Blau” she released a song about her coming out last year.

The feedback was huge, many girls and women wrote her long posts, thanked her, poured out their souls, described their fears. And Luna learned once again that being a lesbian is anything but easy, especially, but not only, in the countryside. And that “blue” can be a first self-confident step in everyday life. Luna: “Some even had my lines tattooed on them.”

The lines from her encouragement song sound like this, for example: “I wore blue even in kindergarten. Only played with boys, I didn’t fit into the picture.” Or also: “But mom said, kid, don’t bend, let people talk. Did it, live in peace.”

Yes, Luna’s songs work. The lyrics of the only 19-year-old Berliner by choice from Vilshofen on the Danube seem more mature than the meaningless phrases of many German poppers or the coolness slogans of many a German rapper. Luna always sounds honest and direct, without being cheaply accusatory or even aggressive.

And she also knows: “I don’t want to sound cerebral. And: If you want to be cool, it can quickly become uncool.” What she intends to do with the lyrics succeeds. And musically, she cleverly blurs the lines between pop and hip-hop. That’s why Luna got the “New Music Award” from ARD in September.

Luna has been a Berliner since November, lives alone near Tempelhofer Feld and is currently in no relationship. Her manager lives in Berlin, this is where she has her team, her record company, and this is where Luna’s future is being worked on together.

“Do you still have to come out in Berlin?” asks Luna. And knows the answer himself: “Rather not. Everyone can be who they are and how they want to be. Everyone is perfect just the way they are, you don’t put them in a box.”

2021 was a big year for the talented singer and writer, and the new year was set to be even bigger. But first of all, Corona shook everything up, the planned February tour was canceled as a precaution and postponed to autumn. On September 26th Luna sings in the Kreuzberg club “Lido”.

Luna’s next single will be called “Hausflur” and describes a relationship that doesn’t work, for which neither of the two involved is really to blame. The video has already been shot, the song will be released soon, just getting the finishing touches. Luna has been busy in the last few months, she wants to make her fans happy with a lot of new material on the tour.

In real life, Luna’s name is Alina. She chose her stage name because she is a night person. “I only write at night, I enjoy thinking in peace. Especially when you can’t fall asleep, you have special, also more sentimental thoughts.

Luna experiences true freedom not only at night, but also on the motorbike. The new Berliner is already looking forward to extensive discovery tours through beautiful Brandenburg.
