BVB: Watzke expresses confidence in Terzic & Kehl – winter access possible

How do you actually deal with the fact that the club boss has given up on sports in Dortmund? I mean… a sentence along the lines of “I’m 100% convinced that we’ll qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season. If not, everyone has the right to criticize us” is a slap in the face for everyone , who hopes his club develops ambitions. Or are you talking that nice?

If that’s provocative, you’re a little late.
Many of us have been wondering about Aki’s statements for months (years…) at ever shorter intervals.

Sometimes I get the feeling that some in the Dortmund office seem to believe that if you believe hard enough in reincarnation, Kloppo’s spirit will manifest itself in the current coach (regardless of whether his name is Terzic, Rose, Bosz or Heinz Eimer). and the squad will finally be able to play exciting, offensive football again over the long term.

It’s just stupid that – leaving aside religious-spiritual problems with the idea of reincarnation – even our former coach savior would have had serious problems motivating this squad to reach the CL final like in 2013.
It’s just too unbalanced for that.

We haven’t even talked about other things yet, there are quite a few:

(1) The injury misery – even with the new manager in this area, nothing seems to have improved, at least for the time being. I don’t really want to use that as an excuse, because every club often has to deal with injuries, but our injury list is really long. And above all CONTINUOUS very long.

(2) A completely inexperienced coach who, in my opinion, is still in the crash course phase in terms of team management and tactics and is desperately trying to plant a tactic on a squad that is clearly not suitable for it.
It was a mistake to ditch Rose after a year (having already started customizing the roster to his liking, mind you!) to reinstate the Cup hero.
That’s not an “Edin out!” mind you, but the action itself was unfortunate – just like the announcement of the Rose signing right before Edin’s winning streak was unfortunate timing (which of course no one could have guessed!).

(3) A completely changed football landscape in which BVB is no longer perceived as the likeable underdog, at least in the league, but as a heavyweight – and accordingly, the majority of teams no longer play offensively against BVB, but first of all the defense is stabilized and then counterattacks are made because you know that we haven’t yet understood that it is bordering on suicide to be constantly standing around the center line with a half-slow back four (Hummels + Guerreiro).

Pressing teams, which do not (only) come from playful approaches but rather from physique and teamwork, now make up the largest group of teams in the league.
Klopp’s approach, which was relatively new at the time, is now common practice – which is why it will not work to want to continue pursuing this approach as Plan A (especially with a coaching staff that obviously does not manage to get the whole team involved in this style of play, that’s how it is then situations arise again and again in the games where one presses, the other watches and the third runs backwards).

(4) That we then bring in additional players who clearly belong in the center of the attack and consistently put these players on the wings, that instead of putting 30 million+ in Adeyemi (or Malen, one of the two was simply unnecessary), we prefer a reasonable AV (or even a winger ) should have gotten, comes to that.

You can read all this again and again in our forum.

Conclusion:
I don’t know if there are still too many BVB fans who get carried away by your “Or do you think that’s nice?” should feel addressed. It won’t be much more than a handful (possibly including Aki roleyes ).
Most BVB fans are at least not enthusiastic about the situation. And not just since the 2:4 with you.

I have to agree with you on almost everything, only one thing I disagree with. Marco Rose is an absolute technocrat who is in much better hands with RB than with us and I’m glad he was released. It remains to be seen whether Edin Terzic is better, but compared to Rose he is not that bad if you consider the conditions. Unbalanced is a very accurate description of our squad, this was no different last season.

There was only one real difference and that was Rose Haaland had. If you take the current 15th matchday as a yardstick, Haaland scored 11 goals in the BL at the same time, even though he was out of 6 out of 15 games. In the CL it was 3 goals again although he was only on the pitch in 3 of the 6. In the cup 3 goals again in 1 of 2 possible games.

Edin has 5 MS. Haller as king transfer and Haaland successor is completely absent. As an interim solution, Modeste scored 0 goals in CL and Pokal and 2 in BL, although he was on the pitch in 20 of 23 games. Moukoko has 6 in the BL and none in the cup or CL, he was also on the pitch in 22 of 23 games. Don’t blame him, all things considered this is a great haul. Last but not least, the two MS who have to play on the wing with us which Adeyemi shone with 2 goals in 18 of 23 and Malen with a trophy goal in 16 of 23 games.

That makes a total of 17 goals for Haaland after 15 matchdays and 11 for everyone who was available to Edin.
Added to this is the fact that Rose was eliminated from the same CL group in a lighter one. Shortly thereafter, he was kicked out immediately in the EL against the Rangers and in the cup against St. Pauli.

Currently we are in the BL with an inexperienced head coach 2 points behind the so important CL place and play well below our possibilities, which I don’t want to deny at all. But considering all the conditions, it’s hard to conclude that things would have gone better under Rose this season than under Edin Terzic.
