BVB vs Bayern Munich | Joshua Kimmich: Niklas Süle “is coming out now”

After four wins in a row, FC Bayern is already five points behind Bundesliga leaders Union Berlin – and Borussia Dortmund is also currently ahead of the record champions. The Munich DFB stars therefore currently have to put up with one or the other top BVB colleague in the national team.

“You hear a bit from Niklas Süle. He’s crawling out now,” joked Joshua Kimmich on Tuesday at the DFB press conference about the teasing on the training ground.

Süle left FC Bayern in the summer after his contract expired and joined BVB on a free transfer.

Kimmich is not too worried about the current table picture. “As a Bayern player, you want to be at the top. This makes the Bundesliga more interesting for a neutral fan. Dortmund are now above us. But the season is still long,” said the 27-year-old.

Three draws and one defeat for Bayern

More than the table, the midfielder’s recent results hit the heart. After a draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart, FC Bayern suffered their first bankruptcy of the current season at FC Augsburg on Saturday.

“One is brutally annoyed,” said Kimmich about these performances by coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team: “Especially because I believe that the defeat and the draw were not necessary. We had a few chances. You’re wasting a few chances and then lose again.”

Joshua Kimmich: “In the end it’s about the results”

He connects the result crisis with the clear mandate to improve performance, which should already be visible in the two games with the national team in the Nations League against Hungary (September 23) and England (September 26): “You look forward to the next game, that you can can do better, even if it’s not with the club.”

Kimmich emphasized that the playful approach fits both Bayern and the national team.

But: “In the end it’s about the results. They give you self-confidence, security and a certain self-image.”
