BVB thinks about ex-Schalke

The defensive midfield is and remains an Achilles heel of BVB. Dortmund are said to be looking for further reinforcements in the transfer final sprint. A former FC Schalke professional is said to have been targeted.

As the Italian newspaper “Corriere dello Sport” reports, BVB is considering signing midfielder Weston McKennie.

The 23-year-old switched from FC Schalke to Juventus Turin in the summer of 2020 and is now on the sidelines with the Italian record champions. The Bianconeri have reportedly been looking for a buyer for some time.

According to the report, Dortmund have already contacted Juventus and requested information about McKennie.

The problem: Although Turin would like to give up the ex-Schalke player, they have signaled to the black and yellow that the American is not available at a bargain price. However, the “Corriere” does not reveal how much Juve is asking for McKennie (contract until 2025).

In the last few days, Turin McKennie is said to have already offered to Manchester United. However, the English record champions refused the transfer.

BVB also interested in ex-Gladbach star?

As early as Monday, Italian media linked BVB to a professional from Juventus Turin. There it was said that Dortmund were interested in former Gladbacher Denis Zakaria.

It seems obvious that the black and yellow still see a need for action in the current transfer period. The start of the season did not go according to plan, especially in the headquarters a fresh force would be good to face the team.

Should BVB actually follow up on the clearing position, Emre Can’s days in the black and yellow jersey could be numbered. The criticism of the 28-year-old has recently become louder again after his poor performance against Werder Bremen. The native of Frankfurt was never completely undisputed anyway.

At the same time, it is questionable whether Dortmund are really looking for a new defensive midfielder, after all, Salih Özcan signed a new six before the season.
