The frustration with the performance of referee Sascha Stegemann in the small Revierderby on Friday evening between VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund knew no bounds among the BVB bosses after the final whistle. According to a recent media report, Dortmund’s wild protests against the referee continued in the catacombs of Bochum’s Ruhr Stadium.
As the “Bild” reported, a Dortmund trio consisting of sports director Sebastian Kehl, head coach Edin Terzic and captain Marco Reus stormed into the referee’s cabin after the final whistle.
There were said to have been loud allegations from the three that “the walls of the cabin were shaking”.
The black and yellow were particularly annoyed about a penalty that was not given in the middle of the second half. After an impetuous tackle in the penalty area by BVB star Karim Adeyemi, there could not only have been a penalty against VfL Bochum, but also the yellow-red card against VfL defender Danilo Soares.
Dortmund’s manager Kehl was still completely upset minutes after the end of the game: “Today things didn’t go well.”
The 1-1 draw at VfL Bochum meant that Borussia Dortmund suffered yet again this season against a relegation contender. In the second half of the season, the Westphalians had already lost important points in the race for the German championship with a 2-2 win at FC Schalke 04 and a 3-3 win at VfB Stuttgart.
With 61 points, BVB is currently still at the top of the Bundesliga table. However, FC Bayern can swap places at the top again on Sunday afternoon (from 3:30 p.m.) with a home win against Hertha BSC. BVB continues on May 7th with the home game against VfL Wolfsburg.
