BVB star reports after serious derby injury

Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic does not expect national soccer player Marco Reus to be out for months.

“It looks like the ligaments were injured. We don’t know how long he’s going to be out, so we’ll have to wait for more detailed investigations,” said Terzic after the 1-0 win in the district derby against FC Schalke on “Sky”.

When asked if Reus would be out for about six to eight weeks, the coach said: “No, we don’t think it will take that long. He had injured his ankle a little more often.” In this case, Reus could continue to hope for the World Cup in Qatar.

In the evening, Reus reported via Instagram. He didn’t name a diagnosis, but thanked everyone for the many good wishes and promised: “I’ll be back soon! I’ll never give up!”

In the 30th minute of the derby, Reus twisted his right foot after a duel. The 33-year-old immediately covered his face with his hands in pain and was carried off the pitch after a long treatment.

This means that the end of the two upcoming Nations League games on September 23 in Leipzig against Hungary and on September 26 against England in London seems likely.

Winning goalscorer Youssoufa Moukoko dedicated his goal to the Dortmund captain. “In the end we all hope it’s not that bad,” he said. “He’s our captain. When he’s on the pitch you feel better.”
