Borussia Dortmund definitely wants to extend the contract with Nico Schlotterbeck. Two media outlets report differently on the status of the negotiations, but there is only agreement on one detail.
Nico Schlotterbeck will apparently extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund. This is what “Bild” and “Waz” report, although both media report different statuses in the negotiations.
While according to “Bild” there has already been a “breakthrough” and the contract extension is “on the finish line”, “Waz” contradicts this report. Rather, the BVB bosses around sports director Lars Ricken are “cautiously optimistic” that the central defender will wear the black and yellow jersey in the long term.
There is now agreement on some contract details. Schlotterbeck should have a salary of around 14 million euros including bonuses, making him a top earner. Currently that is Niklas Süle, who is estimated to earn twelve million euros per year. However, his contract expires in the summer and will not be renewed.
In addition, Schlotterbeck’s new working paper should run until 2031 and include an exit clause for the summer of 2027. The German international could then leave BVB for a fixed fee of 60 million euros.
The statement from external Dortmund consultant Matthias Sammer also fits the information from the two newspapers. He recently said on Sky: “I am deeply convinced that he will stay at Borussia Dortmund!”
