According to a media report, the leadership team of Borussia Dortmund has traveled to a personal conversation with coaching candidate Niko Kovac.
Managing Director Lars Ricken and sports director Sebastian Kehl want to convince the ex-Bayern coach in Salzburg to succeed Nuri Sahin, reported the “Ruhr Nachrichten”.
Accordingly, the club had already contacted the Berlin native last week. However, the 53-year-old refused to be a pure transition solution until summer. Now a contract should be in discussion by the end of the season, which is extended in the event of success.
In the Champions League game against Schachtar Donetsk on Wednesday (9:00 p.m./DAZN) Mike Tullberg will again look after the Borussia as an interim coach. BVB had separated from Nuri Sahin last Wednesday and thus drawn the consequences of the negative series with four defeats since the beginning of the year.
BVB apparently wants to separate from mislintat
According to a media report, Sven Mislintat is facing the end of Borussia Dortmund. According to information from the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, the separation of BVB is to be announced promptly by its squad planner. Most recently, there had been increasingly reports on discrepancies and a power struggle between the 52-year-old and sports director Sebastian Kehl.
Mislintat had already worked at BVB between 2006 and 2017. After stations at Arsenal, VfB Stuttgart and Ajax Amsterdam, he returned to Dortmund last year. The cooperation with Kehl, with which the Revierclub recently extended the contract until summer 2027, did not work as hoped.
