Julian Brandt is only contractually bound to Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season. The BVB offensive player now apparently has a contract extension – under certain conditions.
According to “Sky”, those responsible at Borussia Dortmund basically want to extend Julian Brandt’s contract. Discussions between the Revierklub and the players’ side are planned.
However, there are conditions for further cooperation. On the one hand, the 29-year-old would have to forego his salary. Brandt is currently expected to earn around seven to eight million euros per year.
On the other hand, the new working paper should be significantly more performance-related.
It remains to be seen whether Brandt will sign under these conditions.
“Sport Bild” recently reported that the BVB bosses first wanted to wait and see Brandt’s further sporting development.
Accordingly, a probation period should be set until March. It was said that if the Bremen native uses this time and promotes himself, he will receive a new contract.
At the end of September, Brandt commented on his future at BVB.
“If there’s one thing I’m not thinking about right now, it’s my contract. We don’t need to talk about it until winter,” said the 29-year-old after the 2-0 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Coach Niko Kovac said at the time: “I know exactly what Julian can do. He is an important player for us, for the club, and I hope he stays here for a long time.”
BVB boss Ricken leaves Brandt’s future open
BVB managing director Lars Ricken recently left Brandt’s future open. “We’ll see how the season goes. He’s fighting his way out of his slump, I can also imagine a contract extension if the performance is right,” said the Dortmund sports boss on “Sky90”.
In the current season, Brandt has played 13 competitive games. He scored four goals and prepared two more goals.
