An impending agreement to move four-time German international Karim Adeyemi (23) from Borussia Dortmund to Serie A leaders SSC Napoli is “absolutely wrong,” according to sports director Sebastian Kehl. Kehl said this to the TV station “Sky” on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen (to the live ticker).

“That’s not true and it means that I have to make more phone calls a day because new players are being offered to me. I can’t confirm that at all. (…) We are continuing to plan like this in the current situation,” said Kehl. Kevin Schade (23, Brentford), Yunus Akgün (24, Galatasaray), Marcus Rashford (27, Man United), Johan Bakayoko (21, PSV) and a few other wingers are currently being linked to BVB in the transfer market rumor mill (to overview). Before Adeyemi, Donyell Malen (26, Aston Villa) had already left the black and yellow team.
Most recently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that both clubs are close to an agreement. Accordingly, there is a transfer fee of 40 million euros, less than the over 50 million previously mentioned by “Sky” (see article). Adeyemi, who was transferred from Red Bull Salzburg to Dortmund two and a half years ago, still has a contract until 2027. He reportedly does not want to leave the club, but is said to have discussed his possible prospects in Naples with Napoli coach Antonio Conte on Thursday.
Kehl: Finding a coach at BVB “difficult”
When looking for a successor to coach Nuri Şahin, who had to leave after the fourth defeat this year (1:2 in Bologna), Kehl speaks of a “difficult situation”: “We know the candidates who are on the market. It is not the optimal time to change a coach.” Niko Kovac had recently denied contact with Dortmund, and Roger Schmidt had ruled out a commitment before the end of the season.
