BVB professional Moukoko: “I don’t want my development to stop again”

contract poker

At BVB, the working papers of eight players will end in 2023 – the most valuable of them is Youssoufa Moukoko (18), with whom the club is said to have been in contract poker for months. In conversation with theEditorial network Germany“, the World Cup driver commented on his future plans and made it clear: “I would like to know what exactly the club intends to do with me in the future”. He was last set in the center of the attack because top transfer Sébastien Haller (28) missed the first half of the season due to testicular cancer.

The Ivory Coast international is hoping for a comeback after a second successful operation – what about Moukoko then? “I want to develop further and without games I can’t develop further because I don’t want my development to stop again. I think that’s completely normal, because perspective is important to me,” said the youngest World Cup player in DFB history.

BVB talent Moukoko: “I would really like to stay in Dortmund, I have everything there”

Moukoko now indicated in which direction he is tending after Manuel Neuer (36) suggested a transfer to FC Bayern at a press conference in Qatar with a smile: “I told Manuel he didn’t have to try (laughs). I would really like to stay in Dortmund, I have everything there.” The storm talent switched in the summer of 2016 at the age of eleven from the FC St. Pauli youth team to the BVB youth team and made it to the pros at the age of 15.

Under coach Edin Terzic, the Cameroonian is a regular for the first time and repaid the trust with ten goals in just 766 Bundesliga minutes: “I get the trust from the coach, Edin is like a father to me. I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, I know the environment, my friends are there. I love the club, the fans love me I hope. Not everyone can claim that.” Moukoko is enthusiastic and for BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke there was “no other logical conclusion than that Youssoufa says I’m staying with BVB.”

Should Borussia Dortmund not succeed in convincing Moukoko to extend his contract, a scenario would arise that rarely occurs with the black and yellow: the free transfer of a player that they actually wanted to keep. In the club’s recent history, that only happened to Robert Lewandowski (34, Barça) in the summer of 2014, who moved to Munich.
