BVB plan with Edinson Cavani revealed

Borussia Dortmund is also looking at Edinson Cavani in the search for a replacement for Sébastien Haller, who is suffering from testicular cancer. Contact between BVB and the Uruguayan striker star should already exist. Further talks are said to be planned.

Exactly how long Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Sébastien Haller is anyone’s guess.

However, it is clear that the attacker, who was only signed this summer for 30 million euros, will not be available to BVB for many months – especially since Haller’s testicular tumor has now turned out to be malignant and chemotherapy is inevitable.

Not only Anthony Modeste from 1. FC Köln, but also Edinson Cavani, who was under contract with English record champions Manchester United until June 30, is being considered as a possible substitute for the Ivorian attacker at BVB.

BVB: To have Edinson Cavani on a free transfer

Because the 35-year-old Uruguayan has been without a club since then, he would be available on a free transfer – an advantage from BVB’s point of view that should not be underestimated.

After “Sport1” recently reported Dortmund’s interest in Cavani and the Spanish portal “Relevo” reported that the professional was waiting for a concrete offer from the German runner-up, “Bild” now follows up with further details on the current state of affairs.

Therefore there was actually already contact between BVB and Cavani. Further talks are also planned. However, the outcome of the poker should still be completely open.

One thing is clear: The total package of salary and a possible earnest money for Cavani could blow up Borussia’s budget. According to media reports, only ten million euros are available in total for the obligation to replace Haller.

Cavani is also said to be eyeing a move to Villarreal FC, where he could work with manager Unai Emery again.

The Champions League speaks for BVB

Both know each other from times together at Paris Saint-Germain. However, Villarreal reportedly need to get former Dortmund midfielder Paco Alcácer off the payroll first in order to be able to afford Cavani.

However, the fact that Villarreal will not start in the Champions League next season speaks for BVB.

The search for a striker at the Revierklub shouldn’t take much longer. According to “WAZ”, those responsible for BVB want to present a new nine this week or next week at the latest.
