BVB: Kehl hints at Guerreiro decision

In winter there were repeated reports that Raphael Guerreiro’s expiring contract with Borussia Dortmund should not be extended. Recently, however, there has been a turnaround. BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl has now taken a stand.

“It was written weeks ago that a decision had already been made that Raphael Guerreiro would leave us. That’s not the case,” Kehl said in the “kicker”.

BVB is “continued in talks” with Guerreiro. “Everything is still open,” emphasized the 43-year-old, adding: “We’ve given it some thought.”

According to the specialist magazine, a decision could be made as early as next week. According to the “Ruhr Nachrichten” there should be clarity about Guerreiro’s future at the end of the international break.

On Sunday, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” had already reported that BVB Guerreiro would “soon” make a new offer.

The left-back, who was used on the offensive wing in the 6-1 thrashing, should be tied to the Black and Yellows for at least two more years.

The fact that Guerreiro could change his mind is probably also due to his upswing this year. The Portuguese has scored two goals and seven assists in the Bundesliga since the turn of the year.

Guerreiro convinces in the BVB offensive

Guerreiro has been repeatedly accused of defensive weaknesses. In the past two games, the 29-year-old has impressed in midfield. Against 1. FC Köln he even received a grade of 1.0 for his performance (two assists, one goal).

After the 2-2 win against FC Schalke 04, where Guerreiro was also used more offensively, BVB coach Edin Terzic already praised: “He played a really good game – and that’s why we want to keep this option open for the future. “
