Cole Campbell plays almost no role among the Borussia Dortmund professionals. The BVB youngster is now apparently planning an escape in the winter.
As “Sky” reports, Campbell wants to leave BVB in the winter. He has already submitted his request for a change to those responsible for the Black and Yellows.
The American simply no longer sees any prospects for Dortmund. He sees the change between the professional team and the regional league team as “not expedient”.
The TV station is also waiting for potential interested parties. Accordingly, Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht and SV Elversberg are putting out feelers for the right winger.
Campbell is also very popular with FC Midtjylland and coach Mike Tullberg. It is said that the former BVB coach would like to work with the 19-year-old again.
According to the report, the BVB bosses envisage a transfer fee of eight million euros. However, we know that this amount is unlikely to be achieved. Campbell is contractually bound to the Revierklub until 2028.
The USA U23 international moved from Breidablik Kopavogur from Iceland to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
Campbell hardly gets any playing time with the BVB professionals
However, Campbell has not yet achieved a lasting breakthrough with the professionals. He played a total of seven competitive games for the first team.
Coach Niko Kovac is hardly taking the jewel into account this season. Only one appearance in the Bundesliga is booked. Recently, Campbell was not in the squad several times.
Already in the summer, Campbell had repeatedly been linked to a departure from BVB. VfB Stuttgart in particular is said to have been interested in signing him.
According to “Sport Bild”, sports director Lars Ricken and sports director Sebastian Kehl are said to have vetoed the change. The youngster is said to have reacted angrily to this.
