Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven was traded as a new signing for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund around a year ago. Then things went quiet for the young Belgian before a flirtation with FC Bayern made the rounds in the summer. Now it is said that the winger has landed on the BVB list again.

According to the Swiss branch of the TV channel “Sky”, Borussia Dortmund is interested in signing Johan Bakayoko – in the event that a loan from Man United star Marcus Rashford fails.

The 21-year-old is expected to act as a replacement at BVB for Donyell Malen, who moved to Aston Villa and also once came from PSV Eindhoven. Around the end of the Bundesliga first half of the season, the ailing Revierklub sold the Dutchman to England for 25 million euros plus bonus payments.

Black and Yellow would probably have to pass on the transfer income directly to PSV if they wanted to arrange a Bakayoko deal. According to Sky, the Eindhoven club’s demand is between 20 and 25 million euros.

FC Bayern and RB Leipzig showed interest in the summer

The winger himself is said to be ready to say goodbye to the Eredivisie. Bakayoko is insisting on a move to one of the major European leagues to take the next step in his development.

Bakayoko moved from RSC Anderlecht’s youth department to PSV in 2019, where he made the jump to the professionals. He now has 75 appearances in the Dutch upper house and the left-footer has scored 23 goals. In the Champions League he scored twice in 14 games and is now an 18-time Belgian international (1 goal).

Last summer, according to media reports, FC Bayern and RB Leipzig were also interested in signing the attacker. Munich head coach Vincent Kompany in particular appreciated the striker’s qualities, it was said at the time. In Leipzig he was temporarily considered a replacement for Dani Olmo.

Johan Bakayoko is still under contract with PSV Eindhoven until 2026.
