BVB coach Kovač praises Bayern star
“This is the best midfielder Germany has”

Before the top Bundesliga game between Bayern and Dortmund, Niko Kovac spoke about a Munich star – and it was unusually clear.
Before the Bundesliga duel between FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, BVB coach Niko Kovač found clear words for Joshua Kimmich – and they are full of appreciation. “I don’t mean anyone any harm, but he’s the best midfielder Germany has,” said Kovač about the 30-year-old, who is one of Bayern’s defining figures.
Kimmich was already a central component of the record champions under Kovač in the 2018/2019 season. The former Bayern coach remembered: “I can only say positive things about Jo. He always gives his all from the first second.”
At the same time, Kovač spoke about the national player’s versatility – and pointed out a possible downside: “He can simply play too many positions.” Most recently, Kimmich had to help out again on the right side of defense in the DFB team – a role that he himself is reluctant to take on.
