Mother’s Day also brings customers that you don’t see in the flower shop every week. Bryan van Eessen is such a person. He is looking for three bouquets: for his wife, his mother and his mother -in -law. “You can’t forget your mother -in -law, hey. You are married to her daughter. You have no choice,” he jokes. “And yes, maybe I also want to score some points.”

Men in particular rely on the advice of the florist, says Katrien Desloover. “They often doubt colors or species, but you hear little about the price. With Mother’s Day it can be a little more. Up to fifty euros? That’s no problem. And men are easy customers, so that also helps.”

Flowers remain a classic, but also a guaranteed hit.

“My mother is 79 and has everything she needs,” says customer Steven Maes, “but she always brightens up flowers. She loves flowers, always done.”
