Polter began his career in the Bundesliga in 2011 with VfL Wolfsburg, for whom he only played twelve games. After a loan to 1. FC Nürnberg, he went on to Schalke 04 via Mainz 05, Union Berlin, two stations abroad and VfL Bochum. He has already shared second place with six clubs since 2022, which means he has moved to Darmstadt Polter is now at the top.

Spies secured the record in 1997 by winning promotion to the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg; the midfielder previously worked for Karlsruher SC, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hansa Rostock, Dynamo Dresden, Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart.

Kevin Vogt, who left TSG Hoffenheim and joined Union Berlin, has been at six clubs since this winter. Remarkable: Jessic Ngankam, loaned to Mainz from Eintracht Frankfurt on Deadline Day, is already with four Bundesliga clubs at the age of 23.
