Malick Tillman provided the milestone: for the first time at all, Bayer Leverkusen spent more than 100 million euros for transfers in one season with the former Bayern talent and the other previous purchases. That was the case with just four clubs 13 times in a Bundesliga season. It happened for the tenth time within a summer transfer window.

With a view to the most expensive seasons in the Bundesliga clubs, several remarkable seasons catch the eye. Both FC Bayern and RB Leipzig had their highest investments in new players in the 2023/24 season, but are not quite suitable as a positive role model for the current record of the workself. Bavaria brought players with Harry Kane for a good 187 million euros and lost his subscription to the championship title after eleven years. RB paid almost 180 million euros to the staff for the first time in the past Bundesliga season that missed international business in the past Bundesliga season.

The Leipzig 2016/17 had scratched the 100 million mark for the first time in their own history of 2017/18 a year before the Munich team first set this milestone. Borussia Dortmund had already taken this step in 2016/17. At that time, BVB had signed André Schürrle from VfL Wolfsburg for the record revenue of 30 million euros and also brought Mario Götze from FC Bayern for more than 20 million euros. Ousmane Dembélé, whose original transfer of 15 million euros later increased with resolution, drove the expenses for the season to just over 140 million euros – from BVB surpeted again in 2019/20, when Mats Hummels, Thorgan Hazard or Julian Brandt were hired for a good 148 million euros.

The Dortmund record year 2019/20 was also the season, in which three Bundesliga clubs exceeded the 100 million mark for the first and only time. In addition to Borussia, FC Bayern and-in the erroneous assumption to form a sustainable Champions League squad-Hertha BSC. At that time, the Berliners brought UA Lucas TousArt or Krzysztof Piatek for more than 110 million euros, but only issued the majority of the millions provided by investor Lars Windhorst in the winter transfer window. Expenses of EUR 77 million mark the most expensive January in Bundesliga history to this day-in the season, in which Bayer Leverkusen would have come almost over 100 million euros.

Bayer 04 now went one step further at the previous record amount of EUR 99.7 million and, in addition to Tillman, also made two transfers with Jarell Quansah who replaced the most expensive player – Kerem Demirbay – after six years (one of the most expensive purchases from Bayer 04). At the moment, the Rhinelander with their investments for the new season are still above the 100 million mark. Bavaria, BVB and RB are still reserved in the ongoing transfer window, but also cannot draw from income such as the Werkelf. According to the sales of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, the Leverkuseners already recorded more than 190 million euros-the third highest of a club in Bundesliga history within one season.
