Leverkusen professional Granit Xhaka is using the short winter break for a family trip to the snow – and a visual change.

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka is enjoying a well-deserved break after a strong first half of the season in the Bundesliga. The 32-year-old is currently spending his vacation in an idyllic mountain landscape with his wife Leonita and their two daughters. The Swiss shared a photo on Instagram that not only shows the snowy backdrop, but also a change in himself: Xhaka’s distinctive curls have disappeared – instead he now has a short haircut.

It didn’t take long for his fans to react. Underneath the image, some speculated whether the change might be due to a lost bet. “Wrong time of year to be bald! Did you lose a bet?” one user asked jokingly. Others praised the new look: “The cut is dangerous,” commented one fan enthusiastically.

However, many comments also speculate that Xhaka has undergone a hair transplant. Whether these speculations are correct remains an open question – as does the question of whether such a procedure was even possible during the short winter break.

Xhaka, who moved from Arsenal to Leverkusen for 15 million euros in the summer of 2023, has quickly established himself as a leading player. In his first season he not only led the Werkself to the championship, but also to the DFB Cup victory. In the current season, the midfield director is continuing his success and has already contributed two goals and five assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances.

After the Christmas break, Xhaka will return to training with his team from January 2nd. League play starts for Bayer Leverkusen on January 10th with a top game against Borussia Dortmund. A win there could bring Leverkusen within a point of leaders Bayern Munich.

There is also reason for Xhaka to be happy off the pitch: the father is expecting his third child with his wife Leonita. He announced the good news with a special celebration at the end of November after his goal against Heidenheim.
