After a successful trial run in selected arenas, the DFL draws a conclusion. The communication of the referees should be audible everywhere in the future.

In the past second half of the season, nine stadiums, including Munich, Dortmund and Frankfurt, tested a new procedure: In the case of video evidence decisions (VAR), the referees announced their judgments directly to the audience. There were a total of 24 announcements, also as part of the DFB Cup.

As the “Bild” newspaper now reports, the conclusion of the German Football League (DFL) has now clearly failed: the technology works perfectly, the process runs smoothly. Afterwards, the DFL Commission Football, in which Max Eberl (FC Bayern) and Sebastian Kehl (Borussia Dortmund) are represented, apparently unanimously recommended the nationwide introduction to the first half of the 2025/26 season.

According to the report, referee announcements after a VAR intervention should now be introduced in all 36 stadiums of the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga. The DFL Presidium, which ultimately makes the decision, will agree. If this happened, all referees would have to be trained beforehand and the technical requirements in all 36 stadiums would have to be created.
