The 18 Bundesliga clubs have loaned out 91 professionals, 41 of whom are spending the season abroad. There they should gain match practice in order to recommend themselves to their own club or to be permanently signed up by their new employers. But how well has it worked so far? Transfermarkt has taken a look at the database and takes stock of the Bundesliga loan players.

Four loan professionals from RB Leipzig, for whom the Saxons can expect high income, are recommended for further signing. In addition to the 3.3 million euro rental fee, Juventus Turin secured a purchase obligation of 40.6 million euros for Loïs Openda. However, the Belgian is not yet living up to expectations in Italy and has not yet scored a goal in 232 minutes. Arthur Vermeeren (buy option 21 million) showed good performances in his six appearances for Olympique Marseille, but also had to watch three times for over 90 minutes. Lutsharel Geertruida (20 million) was in the starting line-up for the first time for Sunderland in the 2-1 win against Chelsea last weekend and Eljif Elmas (16.5 million) has so far only been in the joker role at Naples.

One purchase option that is likely to be activated is that of João Palhinha. The loanee from FC Bayern has become a regular at Tottenham and recently received a lot of praise from Spurs coach Thomas Frank. “There aren’t many classic sixes on the market at the moment, so we were very lucky to get him,” the Dane said of the Portuguese. Including bonuses, a permanent commitment would cost 30 million euros. With Jonah Kusi-Asare, Bryan Zaragoza and Lovro Zvonarek, three more Munich players have been loaned abroad. And things couldn’t be more different for the FCB professionals: Kusi-Asare has hardly had any playing time in Fulham so far, Zaragoza gets a lot of minutes for Celta Vigo but is still without a scorer and Zvonarek is one of the regulars at Grasshoppers Zurich.

Oermann convinces at Sturm Graz – teething problems at Röhl

Tim Oermann also showed convincing performances during his loan to Sturm Graz. The 22-year-old defender moved from VfL Bochum to Bayer Leverkusen before the season and is a regular at the Austrian league leaders. He also gained his first experience on the European stage in the Europa League. In Leverkusen there is generally a high level of satisfaction with the loans abroad: Matej Kovar is a regular at PSV Eindhoven, Noah Mbamba is gaining experience at FCV Dender in the Jupiler Pro League and Abdoulaye Faye was able to increase his market value from 2 million to 3 million euros at Lorient.

On deadline day, Merlin Röhl surprisingly left SC Freiburg for Everton FC, who secured a purchase option of 20 million euros. So far, the U21 European runner-up has only been on the pitch for 68 minutes in the Premier League because a hip injury kept him out of action. If the purchase option is activated, Röhl becomes the second most expensive SCF exit in history, including the loan fee of 2 million euros. But the midfielder has to convince even more.

Other loans with a market value of at least 5 million euros include Gift Orban (Hoffenheim), Junior Dina Ebimbe (Frankfurt) and Aster Vranckx (Wolfsburg). Orban is wearing the Hellas Verona jersey this season. For table 17th. In Serie A he scored two goals in six games. Junior Dina Ebimbe shuttles between the starting eleven and the bench at Stade Brest, while Vranckx gets a lot of playing time at Italian first division club Sassuolo.
