RB Leipzig has the ambition to set themselves among the top three teams in Germany. A key player will be able to help with this project.
Bundesliga club RB Leipzig commits midfielder Xavi Simons. As the Saxons announced on Thursday, the Dutch signed a contract until summer 2027. Previously, the 21-year-old was loaned by Paris Saint-Germain. As “BILD”, “Kicker” and Sky, RB pays a base revenue of 50 million euros plus bonuses.
“I have always emphasized that I feel very comfortable in Leipzig and feel honored by the great appreciation that I find out in the club. In the coming weeks and months I can subordinate everything with a clear head: We want to Seventh time in a row qualified for the Champions League and travel to Berlin in the DFB Cup-only that counts now, “said Simons.
Simons thus replaces Loïs Openda (came in 2023 for around 38 million from RC Lens) as record access. Leipzig had borrowed the offensive player from Paris for one year in the summer of 2023 and then extended the loan again.
The Leipziger left the Champions League league, stand in the cup in the quarter-finals against VfL Wolfsburg (February 26) and are fifth of the Bundesliga table on par with VfB Stuttgart on Königsklassenrang. Simons played 60 games for Leipzig in one and a half years, scored 15 goals and prepared 19 more goals.
