FC Augsburg narrowly won against Bayer Leverkusen and gained air in the relegation battle.
With the 1-0 (0-0) on Friday (February 3rd, 2023), FCA temporarily distanced themselves to five points from the relegation place and now has 21 points. Leverkusen is in the middle of the table with 24 points.
Diaby hits the post, Berisha hits the goal
The first half was largely uneventful. The big exception was a shot from Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby in the 30th minute, which hit the left post from the left in the penalty area. Otherwise, Leverkusen remained largely harmless.
Augsburg took the lead after the break: Mërgim Berisha headed in after a corner from the right against a static defense by Leverkusen to make it 1-0 (55′).
Berisha still had a great chance to make it 2-0 in the 71st minute – but was too surprised when Mads Pedersen crossed in from the left and flipped the ball into the arms of Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hrádecký.
