Bully Herbig remembers learning about Mirco Nontschew’s death

Mirco Nontschew passed away in December 2021. He was only 52 years old. Fans of the comedian can currently experience his last major appearance: The third season of “LOL: LAST ONE LAUGHING” has been available on Amazon Prime Video since April 13, 2022.

As a veteran of German comedy, Nontschew delighted the audience with his grimaces, wonderfully exaggerated performances and noise imitations. Nontschew was a founding member of “RTL SAAMSTAG NIGHT” from 1993-1998. Then he switched to Sat.1 and got his own show MIRCOMANIA. He also played the dwarf Tschakko alongside Otto Waalkes in “7 DWARFS – MEN ALONE IN THE FOREST” and “7 DWARFS – THE FOREST IS NOT ENOUGH”..

Every Thursday Amazon releases a new episode of the third season “LOL”. The final will take place on April 28th. The cast also includes: Palina Rojinski, Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker, Christoph Maria Herbst, Abdelkarim, Axel Stein, Olaf Schubert, Anke Engelke and Carolin Kebekus. As usual, Michael “Bully” Herbig acts as moderator.

A SPECIAL COMEDIAN AND A GOOD HEART

Herbig last spoke publicly about Mirco Nontschew to “RND” in mid-April and said that in addition to his qualities as a comedian, he was particularly impressed by Nontschew’s human side: “I’ve always seen something about Mirco that others don’t have”. “But I only got to know him at LOL. We fell into each other’s arms right away, that touched me. One is relieved when the colleague not only does his or her job excellently, but is also humanely intact and lovable. There’s nothing worse than meeting someone you admire in person, only to find out that they’re a jerk.”

HERBIG ABOUT NONTSCHEW’S LAST PERFORMANCE

In addition, Michael Herbig spoke about the moments after Mirco Nontschew’s death. Herbig assumed that it would have been in Mirco’s interest to broadcast the new episodes: “It was an incredible shock. Nevertheless, it soon became clear to me that we should definitely show this season. I think that was what he wanted too. Not showing it or cutting Mirco from the show would have hurt a lot more. He gave everything for the audience, so we want them to have a chance to see it too.”

In an interview with the broadcaster RTL Herbig now elaborates on his memories. “I was busy in the editing room when the news reached us. I was busy with it, ”said the 53-year-old in it. “I think we had cut the first two episodes. And I went out, drove home and called him. I did not reach him and spoke to Mirco on the mailbox. I wanted to tell him how great he is again and how great and that he doesn’t have to worry about it, it’s going to be great.” Nonchev presumably no longer heard this message: “He then didn’t call back. And the weekend after that, four or five days later, I got the message. That has already pulled the ground out from under your feet. That was not easy, also for the whole team.”
