Today is Budget Day. This is the opening of the new parliamentary year. This year, just like last year, the King will deliver the Speech from the Throne in the Royal Theater. There is also another driving tour in the Glass Carriage. The transfer of the briefcase containing the Budget Memorandum and the National Budget will take place in the temporary Chamber building. The final preparations took place this morning.

King delivers Speech from the Throne in the Royal Theater
The King will deliver the Speech from the Throne again this year in the Royal Theater in The Hague. This is because the buildings in and around the Binnenhof are closed due to large-scale maintenance work. The Speech from the Throne starts at 1:20 PM.
Riding tour in the Glass Carriage
At 1 p.m. the King and the Royal party will leave Noordeinde Palace for the Royal Theater. The Royal procession returns to Noordeinde Palace at 2 p.m. The King, Queen Máxima, the Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien will then appear on the balcony.

Transfer of briefcase in the House of Representatives
The Minister of Finance will hand over the traditional briefcase containing the Budget Memorandum and the National Budget to the House of Representatives at 3:30 PM. This contains all plans for 2024.
