‘Buddy Vedder never wants to work with Romy Monteiro again’

Buddy Vedder absolutely never wants to work with the now infamous Romy Monteiro again, Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden has learned. “But he strongly denies that.”

It’s very strange how Romy Monteiro suddenly lost all her TV jobs. After the stories about her alleged diva behavior behind the scenes at musicals and on charity trips, her television job also seems to be a thing of the past. In the past she regularly did things with Buddy Vedder at the AvroTros, but she has now been traded in everywhere.

Where is Romy?

She was also sidelined at the prestigious Christmas Music Gala – prestigious because of the presence of the Queen. Buddy of the week presented this with Edsilia Rombley. The official excuse is that Romy is very busy with her TV career, but even as a singer she wouldn’t just skip an evening with the Queen.

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden thinks there is more going on. “What is going on with Romy Monteiro? She is no longer on TV and there are all kinds of rumors about her behavior. What is true and not true?” he asks in the podcast Strictly Private.

Jobs taken away

Evert Santegoeds, the boss of Privé, also thinks it’s crazy. “Well, there are indeed jobs that were taken from her, that did not go ahead or that turned out less well than hoped. She herself admits that she is extremely busy with her musical career. We don’t get much of that, but she announces all kinds of new material.”

And that Christmas gala? “That didn’t happen. Suddenly she doesn’t show up and it is not at all clear what the reason is. Not because you have to be in the studio that evening for your new album, I think. You plan that differently.”

Musical receipt

Romy has also left the musical world with a bang, Evert emphasizes. “The Bodyguard also didn’t happen. She was supposed to make an appearance there every now and then in Utrecht, but that didn’t happen because she just didn’t show up on a rehearsal day, so she’s not making it very easy for herself.”

He continues: “She does not have a good reputation in the world and she can say: ‘Yes, it is a shame that people think that way about me’, but you can also ask yourself: why do people think that way about me? And why is one job after another being taken away?”

“Buddy won’t!”

Jordi has heard that Buddy absolutely does not want to present with Romy anymore. “There was also a rumor that Buddy Vedder was the one who said that he no longer wanted to present the Christmas gala with Romy, but management really denies that on the phone when I call them about it.”

He himself is suspicious of the case: “We will probably hear the real story about it again.”
