A group of students from Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) won the prestigious Bafta Student Award in the Games category on Friday. The ‘Atan’ game was the winner between the thousands of international entries in Los Angeles.

“We are honored with this award,” said student Stefan Pijnacker in his speech. “We believe that everyone who has participated in Atan will make an impact in the game industry. So a call to all game companies: pay attention to these young game developers, because you want them to work in your game studio with their talent and ambition.”

In the action adventure game Atan you climb a giant with arrow and anchors. During your trip you will be confronted with unexpected challenges, because the giant is still alive – and needs your help. On his back, moreover, an unobtrusive child lives on the adventure of his life.

Prestigious international prize
The Bafta Student Awards is a prestigious international prize for students in film, games, television and immersive content (mainly takes place in a virtual world). Students around the world send their best work, after which BAFTA members and a jury select the best submissions for the final.

The competition offers the students network events, international visibility and a boost to their career. It was the second time that a BUAS student game reached the final of the BAFTAs.
