Brussels Parliament also blocks TikTok | Interior

The Parliament also calls on MPs, political group employees and staff of the Brussels Parliament who use TikTok to remove it from private devices with which they share data with Parliament. Brussels Parliament President Rachid Madrane points out that Parliament “like any government must ensure the protection of our data and take its responsibility”.

TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, has come under fire since the tech company admitted that certain employees had access to the data of US and European users. More and more governments and parliaments are banning TikTok on their employees’ work phones and other business devices for fear of data theft and espionage. Recently, a ban has already been issued by the Flemish and federal government, and the Brussels government has also banned the use on service aircraft.
