In the “process”, Dedecker got it on with the Public Prosecution Service for a few invented crimes: Table foam in the casino, destroying a bus shelter in a drunken state and an unpaid taxi ride. With the necessary humor he defended himself against the charges.

The judge showed himself mildly and symbolically imposed a work sentence on Dedecker. But the setup was clear: introduce the public to the judiciary in a light -hearted way. “We want to show that we are not bookworms that live in an ivory tower,” said Judge Gerda Weymiens. “In the court we always try to come to solutions in which all parties can agree.”
