The party started with a series of Scottish dances. The name Anselm Adornes meant a lot in Scotland. It is the country where he lost his life. As a businessman and diplomat, he was part of international circles in the fifteenth century.
Historian and Honorary Chief Archivist of the City of Bruges Noël Geirnaert emphasizes the impact Adornes had on the city: “He personified the Golden Age of Bruges in many ways. He had international relations and an international lineage. His family came from Genoa and he had been established here for a long time. Adornes has always retained those international connections Italy, but also in Spain, Scotland and England.”
