Wife Emma Heming Willis shared the emotional moment on Instagram.
In a rare public appearance, Bruce Willis can be seen on the streets of Los Angeles – chatting and shaking hands with LAPD officers.
A handshake for the police
The actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, shares on social media an 11-second black-and-white video of her husband giving a firm handshake on the street with uniformed police officers for their work, followed by photos of Willis the police side smiles into the camera. Meanwhile, a guitar version of Led Zeppelin’s “Going To California” plays in the background. The thanks are related to the efforts of the first responders in the devastating fires that have been raging in Los Angeles since January 7th.
“When he saw a first responder, Bruce never missed an opportunity to show his gratitude with a warm handshake and a ‘thank you for your service.’ Yesterday was no different,” the British model wrote about the post on Instagram.

Happy reaction from the fans
Fans seem touched by the short clip of Bruce Willis in public and flooded the post’s comments section with heartfelt messages for the actor and his family. Among other things, one user writes: “Bruce looks so good!!!!! This makes my heart happy,” while another commented, “This brought me to tears. His kind heart still shines through.”
Even the LAPD Mission Community Police account chimed in with the post: “Thank you for recognizing our wonderful officers. It was truly an honor to meet the Willis family.”
The diagnosis came in 2023
It’s rare to see Willis in public since his dementia diagnosis. The 69-year-old disappeared from the screen in 2022 due to language problems. In 2023 the diagnosis came: frontotemporal dementia. In this form of dementia, memory remains unimpaired for a comparatively long time; instead, the disease manifests itself in the form of changes in the language or behavior of the person affected.
Every now and then his family posts private photos that show Willis with his loved ones, but the actor is no longer in public.
