Bruce Springsteen’s sixth album “Nebraska” is 40 years old. To celebrate the anniversary, Springsteen is releasing the work as a special vinyl reissue. The reissue will be released by Vinyl Me, Please as “Essentials Record of the Month”. To get the album, you have to sign up for a Subscription to the Essentials series Sign in.

The reissue is pressed exclusively on Black Smoke vinyl, featuring an art print by Justin A. McHugh. The album was mastered as Half-Speed by Barry Grint. The texts in the booklet come from the journalist Peter Ames Carlin, who also wrote the biography “Bruce” (2013).

Originally released on September 30, 1982, “Nebraska” is a peculiarity in Springsteen’s discography: he recorded the songs alone in his bedroom, without the E Street band, and only on a four-track recorder. The recordings were originally planned as mere demos, but the “boss” decided to release them as they were as an album instead. It is precisely the reduced sound that makes the album so appealing. With the next album “Born in the USA” (1984) came the great success for Springsteen.
