On July 15th, Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band performed as part of their world tour at Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion. The head of US stadium rock once again didn’t owe his followers anything.
The set by Springsteen, Van Zandt, Weinberg & Co included 26 songs. It started with a classic with “No Surrender”, followed immediately by newer material with “Ghosts” from the 2020 album “Letter To You”.
In terms of setlists, the evening left nothing to be desired: “Thunder Road” was on the program, as were “Born To Run”, “Badlands”, “Backstreets”, “The River”, “Glory Days”, “Dancing In The Dark”. and Bobby Jean.
Because five encores weren’t allowed to end, the “boss” performed a solo acoustic number at the end with “I’ll See You In My Dreams”.
