For everyone who follows the Bruce Springsteen universe: In 2025, a box with previously unpublished material brought. A feature film about the creation of “Nebraska”. A symposium for “Born to Run” in New Jersey with former and current e-street band members. In addition, two books on the album. And it goes on. Today the first taste of the upcoming “Nebraska” box appeared. In parallel to a new interview, in which Springsteen also spoke about tour plans and a future “Tracks 3” project.
Published first live material
Earlier “Nebraska” topics first. Already at the beginning of the month, Springsteen announced the publication of “Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition” for the filming “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere”. The set extends the original album from 1982 by an outtakes CD. These include early versions of “Born in the USA” and “Downbound Train”. In addition, the long rumbled “Electric Nebraska” sessions as well as a Blu-ray and audio recording from Springste’s first complete live appearance with the album.
The concert was recorded in the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank (New Jersey) at the beginning of the year. Springsteen played together with Larry Campbell (guitar, mandolin) and Charlie Giordano (Celesta, synthesizer), filmed by director Thom Zimny. “It was important to me to keep the scary character of the record,” said Springsteen. “We were lucky enough to have Larry Campbell and Charlie Giordano with me for the very reduced instrumentation.” A solo live clip from “Open All Night” was published today.
50 years after his legendary “Time” cover-at the same time at the same time on the title of “Newsweek”-Springsteen can now be seen again on the magazine. He said: “It makes you very, very different from all the people you grew up with.”
Sharp criticism of Trump and Democrats
In the conversation, Springsteen also commented on his Trump-critical stage announcements in Europe in summer: “If I want to stay true to myself, I can’t give these people a free ticket.” He also did not spare the Democrats: “There is a problem with the language they use and, as they try, to reach people.”
Springsteen could only laugh about Trump’s comment that he was “highly overestimated”. But he also got serious: “Many people fell on his lies. He doesn’t care – unless he and the billionaires who were behind his inauguration day.” He also said: “One has to admit that a considerable part of the Americans has been satisfied with his policy of power and dominance. He is the living embodiment of what the 25th amendment to the constitution and an office procedure was created.
Tour plans and “Tracks 3” in prospect
When asked whether he would go on tour with the E Street Band, Springsteen said: “Of course!” Solo shows are also conceivable. He also revealed that in a few years he will publish a third “tracks” box with other unpublished songs. This could include a “notorious slow, hypnotic” version of Bob Dylans “I Want You”.
