Brooks Koepka withstands the pressure this time and wins fifth major | Other sports

American golfer Brooks Koepka has won the PGA Championship for the third time. It was already his fifth major title for the 33-year-old Koepka.

Koepka entered the final day as leader and he never gave up his lead. He went around in his final round in 67 strokes, one stroke more than in his second and third rounds. He had started the tournament with a round of 72, two over par.

Koepka kept compatriot Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hofland from Norway two strokes behind. Last month, Koepka also entered the final round as the leader at The Masters, but then he was unable to finish and performed moderately under pressure.

Koepka was emotional on the last hole. “I thought back to where I was two years ago,” he said, referring to his rehabilitation after knee surgery. “I am so incredibly happy and I am speechless. As a child I did not even dare to dream of winning this tournament so often.”

Koepka also won the tournament in 2018 and 2019. In 2017 and 2018 he was the best at the US Open.
