Bronze for Emma Plasschaert at the Sailing World Championships

On the final day, Plasschaert climbed from fourth to third place in the rankings thanks to a fourth place in the Medal Race. The Ostend woman finished with 78 points to her name, twenty more than the Danish winner Anne-Marie Rindom, also the reigning Olympic champion.

It was already the fourth world title for Rindom, after 2015, 2019 and 2022. The silver went to the American Charlotte Rose with 75 points. The Swiss Maud Jayet narrowly missed the podium with 84 points.

The Dutch Marit Bouwmeester, number one in the world and four-time world champion, and the Hungarian title defender Maria Erdi missed the Medal Race. Bouwmeester finished the World Cup in thirteenth place, Erdi in sixteenth.

Thirty-year-old Plasschaert took her fourth medal of honor at a World Cup in Mar del Plata. In 2018 she won gold in Aarhus and in 2021 she did so in Al Mussanah. In 2022 she also stood on the podium in Kemah with bronze. Last year she had to settle for sixth place in Scheveningen. With this she already provided Belgium with a starting ticket for the Games in Paris.
