More than half of the visitors, 52%, came from abroad. The British form the largest group, with almost 95,000 visitors last year. More Britons are coming again, although they are still a quarter fewer than before corona. Visitors also stay more than one day, accounting for 370,000 overnight stays. These are figures that N-VA MP Gijs Degrande requested from Minister of Tourism Depraetere.
Gijs Degrande: “The British visitors have a strong historical and emotional connection with Flanders. The fact that they are once again finding their way to our front region is an important signal. It shows that continued investments in WWI heritage and international cooperation are having an effect.”
