British talk show host quits after arrest of man who wanted to ‘kidnap, rape and murder’ her | Show

Holly Willoughby is quitting as presenter of the ITV program altogether This Morning. She announced this on Instagram. “I have informed ITV that I will not be returning to This Morning after fourteen years,” she wrote on Tuesday.

The presenter says in the message that she had to make the decision ‘for myself and my family’. Willoughby had not been seen on television for a few days. The police announced that last week a 36-year-old man has been arrested because he is suspected of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder the TV star, according to British media.

ITV, together with the police, arranged security and support for Willoughby. “This news comes as a huge shock to everyone at This Morning and ITV,” an ITV spokesperson told Sky News. “We are offering all possible support to Holly and her family at this incredibly difficult time.”

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also responded. He was “sorry” to hear that Willoughby had been the target of an attempted kidnapping. “I’m so sorry to hear what’s going on with Holly,” Sunak said on the morning show. “I wish her and her family nothing but the best.”

It is the second departure of an anchor from the ITV program this year. In April, her co-host left Phillip Schofield after more than twenty years because he had lied about an affair with a younger male colleague.
