British Prime Minister Truss in conversation with budget supervisor on Friday
British Prime Minister Liz Truss will hold emergency talks with the head of the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) on Friday, The Guardian reports. The talks follow days of chaos in the financial markets, which observers say are the result of the government’s planned tax cuts.
Truss and her finance minister Kwasi Kwarteng meet on Friday with Richard Hughes, chairman of the independent tax watchdog. The UK government will receive a draft of the full fiscal forecasts from the OBR next week, the paper said.
