The British government has appealed to experts from the armed forces to be able to cope with a waste crisis in Birmingham, one of the largest cities in the country. Garbage collectors have been struck there for weeks and thousands of tons of waste accumulate in the streets, reports British media such as the BBC and The Telegraph. This leads to concerns about the consequences for public health.
