David S. (57) was arrested August 10 in the German city of Potsdam by the German police. He is suspected of having leaked information from the British embassy to a foreign power: Russia.
Two of the nine charges concern the suspicion that he passed on information to a person believed to be a representative of the Russian state and attempted to do so. This is what the British Public Prosecutor’s Office says. He would also have gathered information with the plan to pass it on to the Russian authorities. The alleged offenses were allegedly committed between October 2020 and August 2021.
He was flown in from Germany on Wednesday and will appear in court a day later, police said.
