British boy (6) drowns in hotel pool during family holiday to Cyprus | Abroad

A six-year-old British boy has drowned in a hotel swimming pool during a family holiday in Cyprus. The boy died after his mother found him unconscious in the water at their hotel in the seaside resort of Paphos.

Despite being rushed to hospital and put on a ventilator, his condition worsened. Still unconscious, he was transferred to Nicosia’s Makarios Hospital for further treatment. He died there on October 6.

Previous incidents

Earlier this month, a British man drowned near Lisbon when he got into trouble while swimming at the beach of Sao Pedro de Moel. Despite a surfer’s efforts to help, the man’s life could not be saved.

In Memoriam

The deceased boy’s brother, Dale, paid tribute to him. He described him as his “best friend” and a “beautiful person” who turned his life around after struggling with his mental health.
