Brit wins FIFA Global Series qualifier

British FIFA pro Ethan “EthxnH” Higgins has won the first European qualifier of this year’s FIFA Global Series (FGS). It was the first major success of his career.

In the final, the Futwiz player put up a tight series against Champions League winner and runner-up Nicolas “nicolas99fc” Villalba. Meanwhile, the underdog EthxnH led by two goals and tried to hold their lead with time play, but nicolas99fc fought back and scored the equalizer just before the final whistle.

The two opponents scored three goals in extra time – EthxnH secured the title with a 7:6.

Best German of the tournament was Umut “RBLZ_Umut” Gültekin. In the quarter-finals, the world champion lost to Donovan “Tekkz” Hunt (4:7), after having qualified for the knockout rounds in the Swiss system with six wins and two losses.

“Good points for the playoffs,” wrote RBLZ_Umut on his Twitter channel. Nevertheless, he is disappointed. Last season he failed to win a title in the four qualifying tournaments.
