Followed success coach Frank

Brentford FC has extended the contract with coach Keith Andrews, which runs until 2028, for another four years. The 45-year-old Irishman is now bound until 2032, as the Bees announced on Thursday. “It’s a fantastic club full of fantastic people. I would love to continue to build it,” said Andrews in a statement to the Londoners.

For the ex-professional, Brentford is his first ever position as head coach. Before that, he was part of the staff for a year under his predecessor Thomas Frank, who left the club for Tottenham after seven years, but is already history there. Andrews also worked as an assistant coach at Sheffield United, the Irish senior and U21 national teams under Stephen Kenny and at MK Dons.

After 27 match days, Brentford are seventh in the table under Andrews and with 40 points (to the Premier League table) a candidate for a European Cup place. If more than the six fixed starting places come about, which is likely over the five-year standings, the Bees could benefit. In that case it would be the first qualification in the club’s history. It wasn’t just the long-time coach who left in the summer: top performers such as Bryan Mbeumo (26, Man United), Yoane Wissa (29, Newcastle), Christian Nørgaard (31, Arsenal) and Mark Flekken (32, Leverkusen) brought Brentford over 150 million euros in transfer fees (to the transfer overview). With record signing Dango Ouattara (24, came from Bournemouth for 42.8 million euros), the club strengthened itself again.
