Brentford FC has extended Aaron Hickey’s (22) contract early by two years until 2028 – including the option for a further season. The full-back, who was linked to numerous top clubs such as Man City and FC Bayern in the summer of 2023, has been sidelined for 14 months due to a serious and persistent thigh injury.

Before that, the Scot had been the Bees’ undisputed regular player since his signing from FC Bologna for almost 14 million euros in the summer of 2022. “He struggled with injuries last year but now there is light at the end of the tunnel. We know that before his injury he was a very good full-back with a lot of potential. Now it’s about getting Aaron back on the pitch and giving him games so that he can show his high level again,” said coach Thomas Frank.
