Hardly any goals, but a lot of excitement on Friday in the second division. It remains exciting in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga.

Breaks for Hamburger SV in the fight for promotion to the Bundesliga. In the home game against the surprise team of the season from Elversberg, it was only a 0-0. The HSV remains the first, but on Saturday the 1. FC Köln could pass in Paderborn (from 1 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online).

In the second game on Friday evening, SSV Ulm celebrated an important 2-1 home win against Darmstadt 98. Ulm made a jump to Braunschweig in 16th place through the goals of Lucas Röser (51.) and Oliver Batista Meier (57th) and got some air in the relegation battle. Clemens Riedel (68th) had only been able to shorten for Darmstadt.

HSV coach Merlin Polzin was able to rely on goalkeeper Davie Selke against Elversberg in the storm, who was missing yellow-locked in the convincing 3-0 at 1. FC Magdeburg before the international break. His replacement Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, against the Magdeburg players of the game, had to take a seat on the bench again.

The hosts started dominant. A crashed flank by William Mikelbrencis landed on the crossbar (14th), shortly afterwards Selke missed the ball by the best position (19th). Again and again attacks rolled towards Elversberger penalty area – even after a little over half an hour, but Ludovit Reis’ header went just over the goal (33.). Shortly afterwards, Daniel Heuer Fernandes prevented an own goal of Mikelbrencis (40th) with a great parade.

In the second round, the guests also appeared more aggressively, Hamburg got increasing problems. A shot from Lukas Petkov parried Heuer Fernandes (61.). On the other hand, Marco Richter with his Schlenzer only hit the crossbar (78th).

Within six minutes, Lucas Röser (51st) scored artistic and Oliver Batista Meier (57th) from the distance. Clemens Riedel (68th )’s connection goal was not enough.

The Ulm won again for the first time since the end of January and, at least temporarily, climbed past the relegation relegation rank thanks to the clearly better goal difference past Eintracht Braunschweig. For the Darmstadt coach Florian Kohfeldt, the fifth defeat in series continued the away misery. The lead over Ulm decreased to eight points.

The game started at a moderate level and only really absorbed momentum after the change of sides. Pyrotechnics and fireworks in the Darmstadt block delayed the restart. Then the hosts were allowed to cheer quickly. In the jump, Röser pressed a cross from Bastian Allgeier into the goal with a high leg.

The first goal since Lechleiter took office, who had previously reached a 0-0 against Karlsruher SC, was good for the Ulmen. Batista Meier showed the courage required by the new coach on his goal from a distance. Darmstadt’s Riedel made the game with his header exciting again after a standard. The guests also had the chance to equalize. But the Ulmer brought success over time.
