The Brazilian national football coach Dorival Junior was released only three days after the humiliating 1: 4 in the World Cup qualification at Arch rival Argentina.
This was announced by the National Football Association CBF on Friday. “Dorival Junior is no longer responsible for the Brazilian national team,” it said in a statement: “Management thanks him and wishes him every success for the rest of his career.”
The 62-year-old had only taken over the coaching position at the record world champion in January 2024. The qualification for the final round in 2026 in the USA, Canada and Mexico is within reach for Brazil, but as fourthly the gap to the already qualified leader of Argentina is already ten points.
After the latest clap, Dorival Junior spoke of the “most delicate moment” of his career. “Nobody expected what we saw today, and the responsibility is entirely with me,” said the 62-year-old.
