Today hip indie bands like Isolation Berlin sing their songs (“Keiner kann und ab”) and at their concerts the generations hug each other and celebrate. The veterans of New Wave from East Westphalia show that they can do more than live off the fame of bygone times when they stood on stage at the first German punk festivals with bands like Abwärts or Einfallenden Neubauten.
Brausepöter have already proven with their first album (“Self-timer”) after a band break of more than 30 years that they have not stood still. In 2019, the Cologne-based label Tumbleweed Records released “Nerven geschäckt”, another release that, located “between The Nerves, The Stars and 77s punk, deserved more attention” (taz popblog). But what is a good album worth if you can’t play it in front of an audience? The band around Martin Lück has now accumulated so much energy during the pandemic that they absolutely want to let their animal called Brausepöter off the leash again. The performance in Cologne is the first concert after a two-year absence from the stage. We expect a tsunami.
